Mark Donohue, Reflective Kitchen

The combination of minimalist work surfaces and ultra-gloss cabinet doors is currently on trend and it can be readily achieved with a Granite Transformations makeover.

Mark Donohoe chose our popular White Star finish for his work surfaces and kickboards, teaming this with an ultragloss woodgrain, Noce Marino, for the replacement doors and drawer fronts.

The effect is truly eyecatching, with guests commenting on how the highly reflective surfaces create an aura of open space, as well as harmonising with wooden flooring in a similar tone. The use of deep, wide drawer fronts emphasises the shining effect and gives Mark’s kitchen a truly contemporary look, set off by square, stainless steel Riven handles.

The three-metre long White Star agglomerate slabs mean that virtually seamless, elongated worktop runs could be achieved, with bonded edge strips creating a deep profile. Laid-back stainless steel appliances allow the glossy woodgrain finish to dominate, at the same time adding a modernistic style note.

This particular material combination has proved so visually arresting that quite a number of our showrooms have adopted it for their display kitchens. Faced with all those flaring reflections coming from every surface, however, our photographer was not quite so keen!
