Kent Kitchen

Having moved house a couple of years ago, Katy and Russ Farmer wanted to restyle their kitchen and transform it into a light, bright space at the heart of the home.

The original kitchen was smaller, with cream cabinet doors, black laminate worktops, terracotta and cream tiled splashback, with vinyl flooring. They decided to extend the work surfaces, with cabinets beneath and wall units at eye level.

“My colour palette for the whole house is mostly pastels, so I wanted to extend this look into the kitchen and create as much light as possible,” says Katy.

“We went for Matt Dakkar doors, since this adds more warmth than grey, and chose White Star for the worktops and extended splashback. The mirror fleck in this finish reflects natural and halogen lighting brilliantly.”

The makeover was completed with matt porcelain floor tiles and Franke sink tap, oven and hood installations. The slimline hood and oven fit neatly between base units without being a focal point.

“This is definitely my own kitchen design, which I love, and it makes the area seem larger and brighter,” adds Katy.
